Poems

Warcry of the Unaccepted

by Jennifer Pitcock

Imposing as we walk,
A great wall of black,
Hear the people talk,
Selling fairy tales as fact.
Cast out from whence we came,
We make our solemn pact:
We'll leave this town one day,
And we're never coming back!

Black sheep among the white,
Rats inside the wall,
And for our gift of unprejudiced sight
They say we cannot see at all!
Ugly spot on purest silk,
Wayward children bound for a fall,
They beat us down with all their will,
And still, we stand strong and tall!

Onward, still, we walk
In our wondrous wall of black,
We will always hear them talk,
But only we will know the facts!
They try to cause us shame,
But we possess what they all lack,
The Unaccepted know the way--
And we're never coming back!
